Kathy Leggett Eldridge  CPA, Principal

Kathy’s approach to public accounting is multi-faceted.  A CPA for 20 years, most of her professional career has been spent providing accounting, attest and consulting services to nonprofit organizations of all sizes.  Currently, her practice concentration centers around churches.

She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Art from Agnes Scott College with a major in Psychology.  She earned an Accounting Major Equivalency from Christian Brothers University.  Kathy’s educational background brings unique perspective related to client service. She strives to develop professional consulting relationships that bring superior value to her clients by providing ongoing resources to church finance offices.

Formerly a partner in an Atlanta-based CPA firm specializing in nonprofit attest and tax services, Kathy now practices independently from Coastal Georgia.  She strives to bring her experience and learned best practices to clients in a cost-effective manner.  She has performed ongoing consulting engagements that include preparing her church clients’ internal financial statements for external audit. She also provides consulting services related to strengthening internal controls in finance offices including those with limited human resources. She has written accounting policy and procedure manuals for clients as well as assisted in interviewing accounting personnel being considered for client positions. She has a passion for teaching the idiosyncrasies of fund and church accounting as well as serving as a consulting resource to nonprofit management and finance/business office personnel.

As a career-long member of both the American Institute of certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants (GSCPA), Kathy embraces the core CPA value of life-long learning.  She holds a Certificate of Educational Achievement in Non-profit Accounting and Auditing from the AICPA.  Kathy has taught seminars and workshops on nonprofit topics of interest for various industry groups.

Kathy, and her family are members of Faith Presbyterian Church.  She serves as Treasurer and an Elder on the Session at Faith.  She believes that all personal growth requires giving back to one’s community.  To that end, she has served as the treasurer of the Marlow Elementary PTO in Guyton and Apostles Learning Center in Atlanta.  She has served on the School Council of Marlow Elementary and currently serves on the School Council of South Effingham Middle School.  She has served as both treasurer and chair of the board of directors of Emerge Scholarships, Inc.

 

Sylvie Treadwell-Merritt CPA  -  Director of Client Services

Sylvie has been a CPA for 25 years and working in the accounting field for almost 30 years.  She began her career in public accounting in a then “Big 8” national accounting firm.  After several years in public accounting and then banking, Sylvie found her passion working with nonprofits. Formerly a controller for a mid-size Atlanta nonprofit for over 15 years, Sylvie now practices in Atlanta with Leggett Eldridge & Company, LLC.

Sylvie holds both a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a major in Accounting and a Bachelor’s Degree in Science with a major in Middle Childhood Education from Georgia State University.

Because of her experience in sitting on both sides of the “audit desk,” Sylvie has a comprehensive skill set ready to assist her nonprofit clients.  She well understands the client’s, as well the external auditor’s, perspective on accounting and attest engagements.  She performs on going accounting engagements that include preparing her church clients’ internal cash basis year end financial statements for external audit in accordance with accounting principles generally accepted in the United States.  She is diligent in reconciling statements of financial position accounts throughout the year in order to facilitate the preparation of year end schedules and information for external audit purposes.  She assists clients with reconciling monthly bank statements activity to general ledger detail in an effort to provide complete financial reporting and better segregation of duties.  She assists a local private school with various accounting projects requested by its Business Manager.  Sylvie has experience documenting accounting policies and procedures specifically writing step-by-step “how to” narratives.

As part of the team at Leggett Eldridge & Company, LLC, she strives to provide clients with cost and time effective accounting assistance fully understanding that nonprofit resources are rarely unlimited.  Her experience in , and passion for, nonprofits benefits organizations of any size.  Most importantly, Sylvie is dedicated to providing excellent service to clients. 

 

Kerri Moore - Director of Administration

At the start of her career, Kerri Moore was the office manager and bookkeeper for a large insurance company. After choosing to focus on raising her son for several years, she returned to work preparing payroll for a small trucking company and accounting services to Leggett Eldridge and Company. She has provided bookkeeping services to various companies for the last twenty years.

In her spare time, Kerri proudly holds the position of treasurer for her son's football booster club. She and her husband love to entertain at their home, and their family enjoys spending time outdoors and volunteering at their local church.

 

Robert Grant - Director of Business Development

Robert joins the team with a background in education and nonprofits.  With a major in secondary education from Clemson University, he was a high school teacher for many years.  Then, as a stay-at-home parent, he immersed himself in the world of nonprofits by serving on various boards and for many years as president of his children’s elementary school’s PTO.  The years of volunteer service emerged into a run for our local School Board, where he currently and proudly serves Effingham County Schools.   He enjoys any opportunity to spend time with his teenage kids, especially playing in his church’s praise band with his son.  Robert is currently involved with Backpack Buddies, Rotary, and beekeeping.
